This page is intended for marine surveyors to review unique issues. This is a NO NO!
(The preceding is provided as a
comment for non-surveyors) This is a photo of a Yamaha EF1000IS air-cooled gasoline generator (inverter) in a closed gasoline engine space containing a MerCruiser HP500EFI. This is a generator designed for camping (outdoor use only). The vessel is a 2003 Carrera 290 Effect X worth about 95,000.00. This generator has an integral fuel tank (that has to have the vent on the tank cap open to run). In the photo you can also see a rubber exhaust hose for it to expel dry exhaust gasses (look by the trim pump reservoir cap). This un-cooled exhaust hose is neatly routed, well secured and attached to the installed vent on the transom deck cap. This was an installation by a professional stereo shop in Southern California. This unit was removed and a telephone call was initiated by the boat owner to the stereo shop that provided the unit as a $1000.00 option for his 2100-watt, $10,000.00 stereo system. |
